Our group develops novel ultrafast light sources and devices that operate over a braod range of wavelengths, from terahertz (THz) to x-rays. We contribute enabling technologies for large-scale x-ray free- electron lasers (XFELs), and use our novel sources and devices to study ultrafast dynamical processes in matter.
Our principal areas of research include:
- Femtosecond- to attosecond-precision timing distribution systems
- High-energy (joule) pulsed and high-average-power (kW) diffraction-limited laser amplifiers
- Optical synthesizers
- Integrated photonics
- Ultrafast nanophotonic devices
- Ultrafast light-matter interaction physics
- High-harmonic generation
- Lightwave electronics
